Archive 81 will not be everyone's cup of tea whatever way you slice it. The concept broke new ground, hence Netflix adapted it into a series years later. The bumps in the road for me are within the shows execution, muddled audio, confusing scenes which led me to shave off one point.Feb 1, 2022

The handholding cheapens every revelation in the series, which only ceases to be predictable in the last couple of episodes-and only then because it wades into silliness in lieu of surrealism.

Is Archive 81 the creepiest show on Showtime?

Strangely enough, the multiple timelines in Archive 81 remind us of Showtime’s recent hit Yellowjackets, but the creepy factor in Archive 81 is definitely different. Our Take: Archive 81, created by Rebecca Sonnenshine and written by Paul Harris Boardman, is based on a fictional podcast of the same name.
