What is the Heaven's Gate podcast about?
The Heaven’s Gate podcast pairs nicely with the HBO Max four-part docuseries it inspired, Heaven’s Gate: The Cult of Cults. But in audio form, this podcast all about the UFO cult known as Heaven’s Gate feels extra trippy. The cult made headlines in 1997 when 39 cult members participated in a mass suicide at the direction of their leader, believing they would ascend earth and chemically and biologically become aliens. If you want a real page-turner (but in audio form), this is it.
Who are the hosts of Illuminati?
With a logo featuring the Illuminati symbol, it’s not hard to guess where this one is going. Hosts Greg Polcyn and Vanessa Richardson research the heck out of each cult an episode focuses on, then bring us down the rabbit hole with them —from what it takes to build a cult and how a cult functions to ultimately, why (and how!) some members choose to exit. If you’re deep into the psychology of it all and love a thriller-esque format, don’t sleep on this one.
Who is the host of Indoctrination?
Instead of rehashing tragic cult history or infiltrating an extremist religious sect, IndoctriNation is hosted by a therapist, Rachel Bernstein, who deeply examines why cults happen in this cyclic, almost unstoppable pattern. If your fascination with cults is new, this one’s a great first step. 10. I Got the Hell Out.
Was Franklin Jones a cult leader?
To him, Franklin Jones was just the man his parents looked to for spiritual guidance. But to the outside world, Franklin Jones was a cult leader. Each episode is a first-person trek through Hirsch's own past, and the (possible) cult's past. In 1997, 39 people took their own lives in a house in California.
Did the Heaven's Gate cult have the same haircut?
They were wearing the same outfit, had the same haircut, and uniformly believed their spirits would ascend to a UFO that would take them to the Kingdom of Heaven. This in-depth podcast features interviews from former members of the Heaven's Gate cult, as well as grieving family members who lost their loved ones.
Who are the hosts of Cults?
Cults hosts Greg Polcyn and Vanessa Richardson unpack some of the most well-known cults across the world, from Jim Jones' Peoples Temple to Shoko Asahara's Aum Shinrikyo. But they also delve into groups you might not have encountered: Adolfo de Jesús Constanzo's Narcosatanists, Jimmie T. Roberts' Brethren, Arthur Bell's Mankind United. Polcyn and Richardson's delivery is a little less conversational, a little more direct than other podcasts, but their accounts are thoroughly researched, insightful, and easily digestible.
What is the podcast "You Must Remember This" about?
Karina Longworth's You Must Remember This is a podcast dedicated to the true history of 20th century Hollywood — the history publicists ignored, or attempted to conceal. In 2015, Longworth devoted an entire series to Charles Manson and the Manson Family, tracing Manson's rise and the terrible culmination of his cult — as well as his often overlooked connections to Hollywood (did you know he was associated with Doris Day's son?) The series is an incomparable exploration of '60s celebrity culture through the lens of one of the 20th century's most notorious cults.

Any comedic and wholesome podcasts to listen to?
I’m not a big fan of crude humor but sometimes it’s welcomed. Just need something to lighten the mood sometimes
I rarely recommend podcasts, but check out the most recent episode of Dead Eyes

What are your favorite podcasts with innovative sound design?

Good Banter Podcasts
I am looking for a new podcast where the hosts have good chemistry and witty banter. The topic is almost completely irrelevant to me, I am a very curious person. Anyone else love to re-listen to great chatty podcasts? My two favorites are Maintenance Phase and Sounds Like a Cult. Both have sassy clever people discussing their passions.
Exercise: Choose 5 podcasts to listen to for the foreseeable future
Suppose that for some reason you can only choose 5 podcasts to listen to for the foreseeable future. The idea is that this shouldn't really be a personal "top podcasts of all time" list, because it's focused on current podcasts that you listen to and are actively putting out episodes.
