Something Was Wrong Season 1

Am I missing something? I just finished Season 1. I decided to listen to it after hating the last season. But everyone says season 1 is soooo good so I tried it. But…. What made this story podcast worthy? Am I missing something? The guy kicked her dog and made up best friends and pretended to be them. Yep that’s weird and creepy.
