The mini-series, based on Laura Beil's eponymous podcast, is stratospherically disturbing thanks to its brilliant script and performances, and horribly real production. Even if Dr Death was terribly written and acted, it would still have been riveting because it is based on real events.Sep 7, 2021

Is Dr. Death series accurate?

Death is in fact a true story based on Christopher Duntsch, a real-life surgeon based in Texas who was sentenced to life in prison in 2017 after maiming almost all and killing two of the 37 patients he operated on between 2011 and 2013. 33 of the 37 patients were hurt or harmed in the process, according to TIME.

Is Jerry Summers still alive?

He died in February 2021 from an infection related to his paralysis. He was 50 years old at the time of his death.
