can you please recommend a well-researched, non-gossipy true crime podcast?

I've listened to a bunch of true crime podcasts, and while I often find the cases interesting, I can't stand how the host/s try to...manipulate listeners into thinking a certain way through gossip and hearsay (if that makes sense). I just finished The Last Days of August, and while I enjoyed the story, there were so many superfluous interviews that added nothing meaningful to the story. Or - I enjoyed In Your Backyard, but found myself rolling my eyes so much with all the "off the record" interviews.

Is there a podcast that tells people's life stories?

I'm thinking along the lines of something you might hear on this American Life, or Noble Blood but the episodes are the stories of everyday people. It could be interviews with elderly people, or it could be telling the story of people's ancestors who have already passed away.
