Overall: Soundtrap seems to be relatively easy to use for anyone with musical knowledge or knowledge with sound regarding podcasts. It comes equipped with the easy to use equalizer, and colorful methods of altering volume of treble and bass or to speed up a previously made rhythm made by you, or another whom you've met while seeking a drummer or percussionist depending upon the type of music be it rap, rock, or R & B.

Overall, Soundtrap is easy and fun to use and is a great gateway into learning how to use DAWs alone and with others. I chose this over other music DAWs because of the collaborative aspect and the online access. The storage on the Cloud made it easy to make music without worrying about memory or storage space.

Soundtrap Design, Usability & User Experience

Here are a few comments on the design, usability, and user experience of Soundtrap.

Soundtrap Review, The Verdict

How do you create the ultimate online music collaboration tool? The answer to this question is much more challenging than one might be inclined to think, because it requires you to think in terms of use cases. Who will be using the platform? How will they be using it? Where could things go wrong?

STAY AWAY

STAY AWAY! Absolutely terrible across all levels. Marketing videos look great, sadly it stops there. I have a paid Storyteller subscription to remotely record Podcast, unfortunately, soundtrap is not designed to do such function effectively and calls drop more often than not.

Sneaky charges without notification

Be mindful if you sign up for a free trial and don't cancel right away, they will charge you without a 2 notification. Sneaky corporation. I'm cancelling all of my Spotify related accounts for this.

I have no complaints about Soundtrap. At least their site is easy-to-use!

I have no complaints about Soundtrap. I've always been a satisfied customer of theirs actually. I've been using it for about 4 years. However, I noticed that their phone number stopped working. Has anyone else noticed this? I noticed that they've gone from one upgrade level to three upgrade levels, and I have no problem with that.

Sometimes the mic doesen't work?

It is great to make music without lyrics. Often the microphone doesn't work. Otherwise its a great beginner tool.

Terrible customer support, can't export tracks

Amazing music making platform. If it worked. You are not guarenteed to be able to export the music you spent hours and hours making. And then support will ignore you when you ask them for help. Stay away.

For the pro-hobbyists

Few glitches here and there, but it's a great starter tool for pro-hobbyists.

Doesn't work very well for podcasting

This was made for musicians and not podcasters. Easy to use for recording. Bumpy and long upload times and editing software that isn't user friendly or simple. Makes it more difficult to do razor fine edits and no background noise removal. Apparently, will be features in the future. Very disappointed with my year purchase.

What it does

Soundtrap will feel very familiar to those who have used Audacity, Adobe Audition, or GarageBand. It is meant to keep things simple for its users, making this platform easy to learn. New users have the option to watch tutorial videos and learn at their own pace, or simply jump in and play with pre-made demo tracks.

Music Making

Upon entering the music studio, users can select to start from a new track or a premade demo track. Starting from a new track, users can select the instrument of their choice.

Storytelling: Podcasting

The podcast studio offers quality production for new and experienced podcasters alike. Containing the same capabilities as the music studio, podcasting can go from a lackluster conversation to a complete production with original music, transitions, sound effects, and depth.

Pricing

Soundtrap, and all of the features that this article mentions, is free to use. However, for those who are looking for broader use of the platform and want access to more features, it offers various packages that suit the needs of the artist and their financial capabilities.

Pitfalls

Soundtrap competes with programs such as GarageBand, Audacity, and Adobe Audition. However, it lacks complexity. For veteran audio editors and digital musicians, Soundtrap is limited in its editing capabilities, especially when using the free version.

Final takeaway

Soundtrap offers a quality platform for new and experienced artists who want a creative space to explore new possibilities. It is simple to use but offers complex features that give depth to an artist’s work.

What is the best song composition software?

Speaking of which, Soundtrap and Garageband are two of the best song composition software that exist in this century. Because these digital audio workstations (DAW) are the giant in the industry, it can become difficult for beginner musicians to make up their minds on which software to use.

Does GarageBand have live loops?

GarageBand, on the other hand, also features loops and live loop templates. Aside from the loops, digital instruments perfectly imitate the actual sounds the instruments produce. For instance, the digital guitar on GarageBand sounds precise as a guitar would sound.

Can you record more than one song on Soundtrap?

The best part is, you can record more than songs on Soundtrap. You can record your next podcast episode directly on it. Then, modify your recording with the tools provided on the software. What makes Soundtrap unique is its ability to encourage collaboration among producers, musicians, etc.

Does Soundtrap have plugins?

In addition, the auto-tune feature is quite flexible as it allows you to control the auto-tune effects on your music. COMPATIBILITY: When it comes to plugins and effects, Soundtrap is limited as it doesn't accommodate third-party plugins. It only recognizes its plugins and effects.
