What is the story grid method?

The Story Grid is a tool developed by editor Shawn Coyne to analyze stories and provide helpful editorial comments. It's like a CT Scan that takes a photo of the global story and tells the editor or writer what is working, what is not, and what must be done to make what works better and fix what's not. How do you make a story grid?

Tap Your Story to open the Stories section. Tap Layout on the left-side menu to enter Layout mode. Tap Change Grid to select your layout of choice. The number of photos you wish to add to your collage should guide you.

What is Roundtable Podcast?

The Roundtable Podcast began in May 2017 as a study group to prepare for the first Story Grid Certified Editor Training. We met every Monday to discuss a story, sometimes a short story by Stephen King, but mostly films. We analyzed them according to the Editor’s Six Core Questions. We struggled at first (we spent almost the entire first session discussing breaking How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days into the beginning hook, middle build, and ending payoff), but we learned a lot.
