What is the succession podcast?

The official Succession podcast is produced by HBO in conjunction with Pineapple Street Studios. The official podcast about the HBO Original series Succession. Each week journalist and host Kara Swisher unpacks real world events that echo the saga unfolding on screen.

What happened in ‘succession’ season 3 Episode 3?

Let’s continue with the third episode, “The Disruption.” A third of the way through Succession ’s third season, we finally get to see Waystar’s acting CEO on the job—which only confirms how little power Gerri actually has.

What happened to Roman Reigns on ‘succession’?

He might be pulling away from his siblings in Succession ’s line of succession, but it’s coming at a tremendous cost that can’t be quantified by a dollar figure. Between attacking his brother and endorsing a fascist for president, Roman is losing what little humanity he had left, all with a shit-eating grin.

1. No One

Despite Kendall’s blockbuster power move at the end of Season 2, I’d just like to make it clear that no one is winning as of now. No one is the number one boy. Everyone is losing; everyone is compromised; everyone is unsuccessful, in a deeply existential sense.

2. Lisa Arthur

Based on her Season 3 introduction, we can deduce a few things about the attorney played by Sanaa Lathan:

3. Rava

It’s true that Kendall’s ex-wife Rava spends much of the aptly named “Secession” getting dumped on. (More on that below.) But at the same time, it’s hard to watch the episode and not come away thinking that Rava holds Kendall’s entire well-being in the palm of her hand.

4. Kendall

Within this ranking, let’s do a ranking of the cringiest things Kendall did in the Season 3 premiere of Succession:

5. Logan

Logan is scrambling: he’s out here getting ghosted by the president and holing up in an airport hotel in Sarajevo. He also lost to Kendall in the Battle for the One Good Lawyer. But the world still revolves around him.

6. Gerri

After multiple seasons of characters jockeying to be named the next CEO of Waystar, Gerri Kellman has officially earned the title. There are caveats of course: It’s basically a figurehead position with Logan pulling the strings in the shadows.

8. Jess

I don’t think Kendall’s assistant, Jess Jordan, has any actual power here—nor do I think she’s biding her time to play a killer move. But I do think she’s one of the unsung heroes of Succession, and her silent reactions to Kendall’s vainglorious spiraling and Cousin Greg’s ongoing ineptitude throughout the premiere are invaluable.

The Most Callous Display of Wealth

We’ve got a little crossover with the Cousin Greg Corner this week: You see, our gangly king is stoked about being rewarded by Kendall for his loyalty (and cruise documents). Per Greg, Kendall is going to gift him a watch. And since he isn’t footing the bill, Greg has his eye on a swanky timepiece that costs [ deep breath] $40,000.

The Most Brutal Insults of the Week

5. On Waystar’s new corporate tagline: “‘We Get It.’ A bit like those ladies on the cruise ship got it?” —Roman

The Cousin Greg Corner

We’ve already touched on the tragicomic journey of Greg trying to score a luxury watch, but one interesting subplot within the subplot is his flirty behavior with Kendall’s PR manager, Comfry—which, in essence, means that he’s hitting on Dasha from the Red Scare podcast.
