THY EARS

New episodes are released every Thursday morning (UK time). Fortnightly episodes are free. For every new episode, and the full back catalogue and bonus content, you can join the Order of the Bath.

TOM BERRY

Tom used to run a health and fitness business and he has a history degree; because nothing goes together like Assyrian cuneiform scrolls and burpees. Tom loves his research and is a big fan of a source, preferably a silly one.

SAM DATTA-PAULIN

Sam is a former journalist and BBC newsreader. He now makes podcasts for a 'living'. He's got a degree in Middle Eastern History, but prefers a wild yarn to in-depth source analysis. Mostly because he's lazy and likes the sound of his own voice.

THE ORDER OF THE BATHROOM

To get your grubby little hands on awesome (and regularly updated) bonus content, you can sign up for a paid subscription and become a member of the That Was Genius Order of the Bathroom. You can also furtively glance at other subscribers as they strip down for a a right honourable soak in the bubbly tubs of the most prestigious order of them all.

The Artful Todger (medical procedures and men behaving badly week) - That Was Genius Episode 131

We got confused! It's medical procedures week, but Sam jumped the gun and did a man behaving badly. Doh.

260 Menopausal Librarians (Trains week) - That Was Genius episode 129

This week it's all about trains. Sam kicks us off with a look at the Australian 'Afghan' or 'Ghan' camel trains of the 19th century.

Minor Lion-Based Surgery (Feats of Survival week) - That Was Genius Episode 125

Well we nearly didn't make this one (Tom's mic broke). But we survived and we're back with an episode all about feats of survival!

That Was Genius Episode 119 - The Many Follies of Heidi Klum (Gardening week Patron exclusive!)

This episode was a patron exclusive, which we're releasing to the public as we're taking a short summer break. Want to join and get more than two dozen exclusive episodes? Find us at patreon.com/thatwasgenius. We'll be back in two weeks!

The Puckered Window of a Public Toilet (Glass week) - That Was Genius Episode 118

Sam kicks us off with a (tenuously connected to the theme) look at the Great Moon Hoax of 1835, in which a New York newspaper's series of increasingly bizarre articles about a moon civilization caught the public's imagination.

Poop On The Desk To Get The Job (Rivalries week) - That Was Genius Episode 116

Edison and Tesla. Hunt and Louda. Tom and Sam. This week we're exploring rivalries!
