Who is Sarah Turney?

In June 2019, Alissa's half-sister Sarah Turney, who was 12 in 2001, began a podcast called Voices for Justice that explored Alissa's disappearance and the subsequent police investigation. She drew upon over 3,000 pages of publicly released notes and case documents from the Phoenix Police Department.

Alissa's case has remained in the national spotlight through a series of turns and with the determination of her younger sister, Sarah Turney, to find justice. Her body has never been found.

"For me, it was kind of like a switch," explains Turney, a former events and marketing specialist who was 4 when Alissa's mother, Barbara Strahm, died from lung cancer.

On February 14th, 1982, the body of a young woman was found on the side of the highway in northern Arizona. Due to the state her body was found in they were not able to immediately identify her. So, for almost 40 years, 17 year old Carolyn Eaton was known as Valentine Sally.

Jelani Day

Today I am discussing the case of 25-year-old Jelani Day from Bloomington, Illinois. Jelani was last seen leaving the Beyond/Hello Dispensary around 9:20am on August 24th, 2021. His body was later recovered an hour away in Peru, Illinois on September 4th. Jelani’s official cause of death is listed as drowning.

Amber Hagerman

Today I am discussing the case of 9-year-old Amber Hagerman. In 1996 Amber was riding her bike in a parking lot in Arlington, Texas, just a few blocks from her grandparents' home when a man grabbed her from the bike, threw her in his truck and drove away in broad daylight. 4 days later Amber’s body was recovered from a nearby creek.
