After 14 years in the Navy, he decided to become a physician using a U.S. Army scholarship program that allowed him to attend school and afterwards entered the U.S. Army with assignments at the 82nd Airborne Division and as the Commander of the Robinson Health Clinic before becoming the Command Surgeon of the U.S. Army 1st SFOD-D (Delta Force) where he spent 3 years.
