Last TV show-turned-pod entry, but it's a goodie. Who doesn't know and love Snapped? But did you know you can listen to it in your headphones while sipping your morning tea and walking the dog? Now ya do! No banter, no opinions, no discernable host personality really....
2. Court Junkie
Court Junkie is a single-host podcast that only covers cases that have gone to trial — so we get real audio and transcripts from the courtroom, AND we get to know how it all ends up (my next post is going to be 15 true crime podcasts for people who hate unsolved crimes).

Heather starts each episode by saying, "Small talk sucks, so let's dive in." Bless her heart. This single-host show has a killer theme song, features juicy cases, and moves at an energetic pace. While Heather does offer minor commentary throughout, it is always contained to snappy snippets and doesn't involve her own life.
4. Dateline
The one and only. The classic. The GOAT. Dateline. Even the episodes that don't feature the inimitable Keith Morrison are perfect encapsulations of why an entire subset of society is obsessed with hearing about how other people have met their ends. Suspense. Stellar reporting. And no small talk.
5. Canadian True Crime
The host of Canadian True Crime is actually Australian, and she has the sweetest, lilting, accented voice. Perfect to regale you with tales of murder and mayhem. Seriously though, she avoids gruesome details and instead focuses on the main events, the investigations, and the trials. No banter, no commentary, just straightforward narrative.
6. Red Collar
I found this one recently, and I'm so glad I did. It's unique in that it focuses on white-collar crimes that turn deadly. Get it? Red Collar? Great angle! It's a single-host, fast-paced podcast. Host Catherine Townsend is an investigator as well as a reporter, so you get details that other podcasts don't have access to because she PUTS IN THE WORK.
