Is simply Charlotte Mason religious?

We're two Christian homeschooling families with eight children and about four decades of Charlotte Mason experience between us. Over the years, whenever we've (Karen and Sonya) gotten together we've talked Charlotte Mason and books. At the same time, our husbands (Doug and John) have talked computers and the Web.

What is Charlotte Mason theory?

Charlotte believed that the ideas that rule your life as the parent make up one-third of your child's education. By “Discipline,” Charlotte meant the discipline of good habits—and specifically habits of character. Cultivating good habits in your child's life make up another third of his education.

Charlotte outlined habits in basically five broad categories: mental, moral, decency and propriety, physical, and religious. Charlotte likened habits to railroad tracks. Once we lay down those rails, our children can “run on them” smoothly and with little effort or stress.
