I first became aware of Lex Fridman through his appearances on the Joe Rogan podcast . I must acknowledge, I was neutral at best, in my initial reaction to Lex as a guest. I did not know what to make of Lex and what felt like slightly eccentric mannerisms that he displayed. Clearly, the guy was brilliant.

Early life and education

Fridman was born in Moscow, then in the Russian SSR, and during his childhood immigrated with his family to The United States. His father, Alexander Fridman, was born in Kiev to a Jewish family and is a physicist and professor at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Career

Fridman's career began at Google, working on machine learning. Fridman is a research scientist and lecturer at MIT. His work at MIT involves research into human-centered artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicle research, deep learning, and personal robotics.

Personal life

Fridman is a black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu and judo, and plays both the guitar and piano.
